Boat owners again!
Almost three and a half years have passed since we sold our catamaran "Happy" in Brisbane, Australia. It took us more than half around the world, About the same distance our first boat ,"Uhuru", took us.
Now it's time to start our new project. We are so thrilled to get back to the ocean. The ocean has served us very well during our two previous projects across the oceans. Now we want to serve the ocean, a kind of "Thank you" by cleaning up the plastic garbage floating around and also make everybody else aware of it's deverstation.
Our new boat is a 44 feet trimaran, a performance cruiser. She was built for a race to Hawaii and had the same owner till 2012 when the couple we bought her from became new owners.
At the moment she is located in southern Mexico waiting for us to make a big refit. The list is long and it will take a couple of months before she is ready. Our main project is to make this boat a "zero emission" vessel. The diesel will be replaced by a electric engine, the outboard will also have the same fate. The propane stove/oven will be replaced by a induction stove and a combined micro/oven.
All this will be powered by a 20kw LifePO4 battery bank and the dinghy will have its own battery pack at 5kw.
The boat will also have a cosmetic update with new topside paint, deck paint and a non-toxic antifouling paint (silicone based paint from Hempel called Silicone). The interior might get a brighter look and perhaps smaller layout changes.
Our new boat will be waiting us in mid July 2017.
